Bathinda is a city and municipal corporation in Punjab, India, located in the south-western part of the country. It is the present administrative headquarters of Bathinda District and one of Punjab's oldest towns. It is located in the Malwa Region of northwestern India, 227 kilometres west of Chandigarh, and is Punjab's fifth largest district. Bathinda is known as the 'City of Lakes' due to its artificial lakes.
The Central University of Punjab and the AIIMS are both situated in Bathinda. A fertilizer factory, two cement plants, a large army cantonment, an air force base, a zoo, and the historic Qila Mubarak fort are among the city's attractions.
